Los Angeles, CA – A high school in Los Angeles has replaced a statue honoring American abolitionist, Frederick Douglass with former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick, in order to teach students about the real social ills of slavery.
“I’m not saying that Frederick Douglass didn’t have some struggles.” The principle of the high school announced at the unveiling. “It’s just that Douglass never had to endure being a second round draft pick, then making a paltry 100 million dollars in salary and endorsements!”
The crowd at the event cheered as the Douglass statue was moved to a trash bin and the Kaepernick statue was revealed, showing the QB in his iconic “kneeling position.”
“It’s about time that someone speaks about the abuse these NFL players undergo on a daily basis. Except when it’s off season of course. And when they choose to retire. And if they pull a groin.” A concerned parent exclaimed.
“I’d like to see Frederick put on a helmet in 100 degree weather, then discuss a dietary and workout regiment with his personal trainer…who probably has a heavy work load!” Another parent screamed.
Kaepernick, who has suggested that NFL athletes were treated the same as slaves, was not on hand to see the statue. Although a source close to the activist confirmed that an assistant to Kaepernick’s assistant would attempt to lookout for the statue on Google Maps Street View® sometime in the near future.
